Undergraduate dissertation. Completed in January 1977, this is a foundational document for gentrification research, presenting the results of a landmark piece of scholarship in urban studies. Although his hugely influential 'rent gap' thesis did not emerge until two years later, there are many tantalising glimpses of what was to come.
