Ética & Curaduría: Referencias bibliográficas para proyectos de investigación artística y curatorial que implican la participación de comunidades atravesadas por el trauma, conflictos y crímenes | Ethics & Curating: Bibliography references for artistic and curatorial research projects involving the participation of communities affected by trauma, conflicts and crimes

Esta lista compartida reúne proyectos de investigación artística y curatorial, junto con casos de estudio, artículos y memorias de procesos de dichos proyectos de investigación y trabajo que abordan problemáticas sociales en comunidades atravesadas por conflictos de índole política como punto de partida, y que envuelven a dichas comunidades a través de diversas estrategias participativas, proyectos que reivindican el rol del arte como memoria. A la hora de activar proyectos de investigación y archivo en comunidades atravesadas por un trauma colectivo cuyos miembros pasan a formar e informar la obra de arte / proyecto documental o expositivo, surgen una serie de incertidumbres en torno a diversos aspectos éticos del trabajo de campo: 1. respecto al empleo de herramientas derivadas del campo de la antropología para enfocar la investigación y cuestiones de autoría y representación: ¿a quién le pertenece la imagen que se desprende de dicha comunidad? cómo esta imagen es creada y mediada y si se corresponde con los intereses y los deseos de los participantes y cómo los artistas introducen sus visiones en dichas comunidades y se hacen eco en su trabajo de esta imagen, 2. respecto a la incorporación de testimonios y memorias orales en ocasiones de carácter autobiográfico en contextos de "trauma" personal y colectivo (violencia, crímenes, abusos) que puedan representar además pruebas forenses y de cómo los artistas se hacen eco en su trabajo de dichas "voces" en cuyo caso 3. cómo apoyar el proceso con herramientas legales desde el inicio del proyecto para reforzar la transparencia, la seguridad personal y colectiva caso de habido riesgo, la sostenibilidad y la viabilidad del propio proyecto; 4. cómo evitar la politización del proyecto por parte de las instituciones mecenas y el mal uso o la tergiversación del contenido sensible que envuelve el proyecto; 5. cuestiones de ética y respeto respecto al uso de este material una vez sea publicado a través de la propuesta artística, expositiva, documental o editorial. 6. Artículos y ensayos sobre cómo manejar el material oral coleccionado.

Esta lista nace como ejercicio de apoyo a la investigación de varios alumnos del Programa de Profesionalización en Curaduría de Arte Contemporáneo del NODE CENTER. En concreto alumnos que comenzaron proyectos sensibles relacionados con los “Desaparecidos” en Chile. Como manera de responder muchas preguntas surgidas en los primeros estadios de investigación, el MÓDULO 2: Concepción de proyectos curatoriales, impartido por Paz Ponce abre esta lista como ejercicio de edición colectiva. Al exceder la materia el campo de la curaduría y del arte, esta lista está abierta a la participación de otros agentes que hayan desarrollado procesos similares con comunidades atravesadas por el trauma y el conflicto. El objetivo es abrir la reflexión sobre la ética y la curaduría, ofrecer herramientas para acompañar el proceso y compartir experiencias y metodologías.

| INGLÉS This shared list brings together artistic and curatorial research projects, together with case studies, articles and process reports of these research and work projects that address social issues in communities that are affected by conflicts of a political nature as a point of departure, involving Communities through various participatory strategies; projects that position the role of art as memory. At the moment of activating projects of investigation and archiving in communities crossed by a collective trauma whose members begin to form and inform the work of art / documentary or exhibition project, a series of uncertainties arises around diverse ethical aspects of the field work: 1. regarding the use of tools derived from the field of anthropology to approach the research and notions of authorship and representation: to whom does the image that comes from that community belong? How this image is created and mediated and whether it corresponds to the interests and wishes of the participants and how the artists introduce their visions in these communities and echo this image in their work 2. regarding the incorporation of oral testimonies of sometimes autobiographical nature in personal and collective "trauma" contexts (violence, crimes, abuses) that could also represent forensic evidences and how artists echo in their work such "voices" in which case 3. how to support the process with legal tools since the start of the project, to strengthen transparency, personal and collective safety in case of risk, sustainability and feasibility of the project itself; 4. how to avoid the politicization of the project by the patron institutions and the misuse or misrepresentation of the sensitive content that surrounds the project; 5. ethical issues and respect regarding the use of this material once it is published through the artistic, exhibition, documentary or editorial proposal. 6. Articles and essays on how to handle oral material collected through the project.

This list was born as an exercise in support of the research of several students of the Professionalization Program in Curator of Contemporary Art of the NODE CENTER. Specifically students who started sensitive projects related to the "Disappeared" in Chile. As a way to answer many questions raised in the first stages of research, MODULE 2: Conception of curatorial projects, given by Paz Ponce opens this list as a collective editing exercise. Since the field exceeds the area of curatorship and the boarders of art per-se, this list is open to the participation of other agents who have developed similar processes with communities traversed by trauma and conflict. The objective is to open the reflection on ethics and curation, offer tools to accompany the process and share experiences and methodologies.
